about
Two of this year’s album artists are shooting down their own expectations on new collab single ‘So What’ which will be released on October 30th on Celebration Records.
Under their aliases, Favor & In Memoirs, the two Danish songwriters Jeppe Hvirvelkær Gade and Morten Fillipsen release their new single So What. The starting point for the collaboration was something completely different, but when the two joined forces in a studio in Copenhagen in the summer of 2020, it was almost impossible not to comment on they situation they are both in.
In July the respected Danish musicmagazine GAFFA put out a list of the best Danish albums that were forgotten in the noise of covid-19. Favor’s debut album ‘Crush’ appeared on this list. Acknowledging that his debut album was given the worst of all possible conditions as the entire promo campaign along with the summer concerts disappeared, Jeppe went back into the studio. This helped spark the feeling that all expectations were actually gone.
Therefore Jeppe invited Morten to join him in the studio with the idea that they should do something together to get their minds off all the limitations they were under. When they started writing together to was hard not to comment on their individual views on the situation
“So What” became a song about clearly seeing ones priorities. It is a reminder to ourselves to let go of expectations. The song captures both the catchy melodic touch from In Memoirs and the captivating lyrical universe of Favor.
Both artists respectively released albums during the covid-19 pandemic in the spring; the debut album from Favor - ‘Crush’, and the sophomore album from In Memoirs - ‘Hope, Fear & Fashion’. It turned into a few new radio singles, placements on bigger Spotify playlists and a place in the lineup for the cancelled SPOT Festival 2020.

So What
written by Jeppe Hvirvelkær Gade, Morten Fillipsen, Astrid Cordes & Morten Søgaard
You’re at the cabin to be alone
Think the space will help U - get in the zone
But 10 years after, you’re still not featured in the rolling stone
If you wanna live the dream start going to sleep
Because the mornings gonna bring the heat
tomorrow’s news that isn’t you, it’s not !! that big a deal
Sleep Aid for the young folks
(So what)
I know you’re losing it lately
Don’t mind it / just say
So What (So What)
(So what)
I feel the sa-me way daily
Don’t mind it / just say
So What (So What)
Sleep Aid for the young folks
Sleep Aid for the young folks
Wasted time is time well spent
losing days on an old girlfriend.
Meeting someone you knew in your twenties
That will be all
Boho love like Tom Hank’s Jenny
Like Forrest Gump you will get plenty
But you’re too thick to understand until 2020.
Sleep Aid for the young folks
(So what)
I know you’re losing it lately
Don’t mind it / just say
So What (So What)
(So what)
I feel the sa-me way daily
Don’t mind it / just say
So What (So What)
Sleep Aid for the young folks
Sleep Aid for the young folks
